Refurnish (Reuse Shop)

ReFurnish is a furniture and white goods reuse project with its own shops in Newton Abbot, Totnes, Paignton, Tavistock and Ivybridge which serves Teignbridge, South Hams, Torbay and West Devon. ReFurnish provides low cost furniture and electrical appliances for local people.  The furniture and appliances are donated by local people usually collected free of charge (depending on distance) and can be seen in our showrooms which are open Monday to Saturday from 9.00am to 5.00pm.  Only clean, good condition, reusable furniture which is to current fire safety standards can be accepted. All electrical goods have been tested and repaired by our qualified engineers to National Standards and all the furniture complies to current fire safety standards.  Electrical appliances that we deliver carry up to a 3 month warranty.

Items not collected by customers can make use of our efficient and knowledgeable delivery service (a small charge is made for deliveries).

The pricing policy of ReFurnish aims to make quality furniture and electrical goods available to everyone while at  the same time enabling the project to fund itself though sales income. Those in receipt of any form of benefit or are on a low income, will be entitled to a generous discount, on production of proof of eligibility.

By encouraging the reuse of household appliances and furniture, ReFurnish is helping to protect the environment by cutting down on the amount of waste going to landfill,

whilst also providing good quality items for reuse all available at affordable prices.  ReFurnish is therefore both a social need and environmental project.

Refurnish South Devon opened in April 2004 in Newton Abbot, with funding from the National Lotteries Charities Board Community Recycling and Economic Development Fund (CRED).  Refurnish is owned and operated by the Devon Furniture Forum (DFF) as part of its vision to  develop a culture of reuse by increasing the reuse of household waste, support social need and provide employment and volunteering opportunities for a variety of people.  The DFF is committed to increasing recycling and reuse of household  goods throughout Devon and is seeking to set other projects in the County or to provide expert technical and organisational advice to independent  groups with similar aims
